Claire’s Beekeeper’s Quilt

photo-1Looking for a project for all of your leftover scraps of fingering weight yarn? Look no further than Tiny Owl Knit’s “The Beekeeper’s Quilt. I was first introduced to this fabulous quilt by one of our favorite customers, Claire R. She came in one Sunday seeking a few colors of Claudia Hand Painted Yarns to tie her project together. Claudia’s fingering weight comes in enough colors to clash and complement any scheme.

The quilt is made up of hundreds of “hexipuffs” stuffed with fiberfill and lavender for extra comfort. These can be joined as you go so the ending finishing isn’t so daunting. Others have made chair covers, pillows and even wall hangings with this pattern.

photoAs you can see, Claire’s husband has grown quite tired of winding these colorful skeins. Claire says that she enjoys making her hexi-puffs on the go. She has knit them on several vacations and whenever she has a spare moment. With this project, Claire suggests making a weekly goal of 12 hexi-puffs to keep the project at an even clip. This pattern is perfect for wedding gifts and home accessories.

You can buy Claudia Hand Painted Yarns on our website or at Fine Points from Tues-Sat 11-6 or Sun 12-5. Come see us soon!
