Dearest Customers,We all know that death and taxes are inevitable, but that’s for another time. What I do know is that the knitting industry is changing. Is everyone still knitting? YES! So that hasn’t changed. But what is changing is where knitters are getting their yarn.
Technology is a wonderful thing. Eight out of ten shoppers do their shopping online. Why not? You can shop in your pj’s and your purchase is delivered to your door–and if you buy enough, the shipping is free! Because of this, we have mounted our own internet store and this has proven valuable, especially for our out of town customers.
We have been thinking of the ways we can set ourselves apart from the other online yarn stores. Did you know we are the largest supplier of Claudia Hand Painted Yarns? What a gift! Looking for some Claudia??? Call us. If we don’t have it in the store, we’ll be happy to get it for you.
Some of our local shoppers know that we have huge treasures of vintage yarns. These hard to find items are not online because of their scarcity. Did you know we have _________? We do!! And what about _______? We have lots of that too! If you are looking for a vintage item or a certain kind of yarn, call us. We just might have it.
Are you aware that we are constantly updating our online store for those of you who like to let your fingers do the shopping from home? If you haven’t already, go to www.finepoints.com and click on the menu items on the left of the home page
We also want to acknowledge our knitters who want to physically experience their yarns and the comforts of their local yarn shops. Here at Fine Points, enjoy opportunities to explore patterns and search among the colors and textures for that perfect yarn for your next project. We want you to be able to continue to experience all that a local yarn store has to offer.
As times change, we’re changing. We know that pricing is important to you; and for your convenience, we are now in the process of putting price tags on our vast inventory.
We’ve also become more involved in the knitting community:
- We’re participating at Loganberry books for a workshop with Susan B. Anderson to promote her book Topsy Turvy on 9/7/13
- Fine Points will join Northcoast Knitting Guild for the Knit-Out & Crochet event on 10/6/13
- We’re offering more community outreach projects.
- We’re in the process of accepting your craft donations for the Cleveland Schools through the end of the month.
- We also collect knitted garments for those in need.
Fine Points will host another yarn swap (details coming soon).
In addition to these community projects, we’re participating in the Yarn Discovery Tour. We know how much fun this is for everyone. Come in and pick up a $5.00 passport at your earliest convenience. We have them now and the event runs from September 6th thru 21st.
You love to knit and socialize, so we invite you to join us Friday afternoons from 2-5pm for our knitting circle. If this time doesn’t work for you, let us know a better time and we’ll see if we can schedule something else.
Fine Points is not the same as it was when I started it out of my basement 28 years ago. Moment by moment, step by step, it has become what it is today. Many of you have walked with me most of the way.
I’m so grateful for the experience of Fine Points and for the vision of the future it holds. If you’re reading this, you’ve been a part of it in some way–and I continue to thank all of you for your support.
Please join me as we move into the future together.
